Hammer and Symantec Extend UK Distribution Partnership

Hammer and Symantec Extend UK Distribution Partnership Full ‘Availability’ portfolio improves customer choice - Bundling with StoreVault gives disk-based protection – ‘a Storage Award-winning combination’  Basingstoke, : Building on its success in supplying Symantec Backup Exec to its UK and Ireland customer base, leading independent storage specialist, Hammer, has signed an agreement with Symantec Corp., to distribute the company’s broad range of availability products. “Symantec is a global leader in standards-based infrastructure software,” confirms Hammer software sales manager, Jason Cheung, “enabling end-users to protect their information through the provision of class-leading levels of data security, availability, compliance and performance.   “By extending the partnership in this way, we can now provide our reseller customer base with products such as Symantec Enterprise Vault, Netbackup and Pure-Disk, in addition to Symantec Backup Exec, Veritas Storage Foundation and Veritas Cluster Server, offering enterprise-class availability and protection.” In line with its broader global objective, the agreement with Hammer will enable Symantec to expand the presence of all its availability products. At the same time, it provides Hammer and its Symantec-accredited reseller partners with the opportunity to secure larger deals by providing highly-competitive complete solutions, including both hardware and software.  “Hammer has been working with VERITAS, now Symantec, for the last 10 years,” says Channel Director of Symantec, Helen Wood. ”They started with an OEM Contract and have developed into one of our most competent Availability Partners. By extending their capabilities to the entire Enterprise solution stack, Hammer can enable their resellers to deliver the benefits of a unified approach to storage, which improves storage management, improves data protection and reduces complexity and cost from their customers’ IT storage environments”.

Market leaders

As part of its complete solution offering, Hammer is currently bundling Symantec Backup Exec with StoreVault (a NetApp storage solution designed specifically for the SMB market, and distributed exclusively by Hammer in the UK and Europe).  “Once again, this provides an excellent opportunity for our reseller partners to offer competitively-priced, comprehensive disk-based protection solutions with enterprise-class features,,” says Cheung. The bundling deal brings together three winners at the recent Storage Awards, as Hammer won the Distributor of the Year Award, Backup Exec was Backup Product of the Year and StoreVault secured Network attached Storage (NAS) Product of the Year.
