Toshiba Launches Portégé Z20t for SMB market with Buy and Try
Toshiba Europe have announced a new European initiative to coincide with the launch of its Portégé Z20t 2-in-1 laptop and tablet. Targeted primarily at the channel and small, medium businesses (SMBs).

Toshiba’s new Buy and Try Satisfaction Guarantee, enables customers to test the offerings from Toshiba, with a money back gaurentee.
Versatility for professionals
The Toshiba Buy and Try Satisfaction Guarantee offers businesses the opportunity to purchase the Portégé Z20t with a money-back guarantee if the product is not to their complete satisfaction or does not meet their requirements. To qualify, customers must purchase a Portégé Z20t between 1st June and August and register for a standard warranty within 14 days. If the customer changes their mind during the first 30 days, they then have the option to return the product – along with complete packaging and all supplied accessories – to receive a full refund.
European Reseller feels this is a fantastic offer and will watch avidly. The Portégé Z20t sounds like a very useful tool for the SMB market. The campaign will run across the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Norway, Sweden and Denmark.
Andy Brockhurst of European Reseller spoke with Neil Bramley of Toshiba to discuss this latest offering and this latest initiative further complements Toshiba’s Reliability Guarantee programme to offer businesses complete peace of mind during the purchasing cycle and beyond. Reliability Guarantee offers customers their money back and a free of charge repair in case of any faults that occur within the first year of purchase. This warranty can be extended for a further 2 years for £60.00 which sounds like a sound investment on a purchase price of £800 -£1,200 for the Portégé range.
We hope that Toshiba will live up to its fine pedigree when resellers, dealers and SMB customers call them out on the “ Money-back guarantee if the product is not to their complete satisfaction or does not meet their requirements”. Time will tell.
Solutions for SMBs
The Portégé Z20t is a premium detachable 31.75 cm (12.5”) laptop and tablet in one. Inside the Portégé Z20t is the power and reliability of a laptop, alongside all the portability and functionality of a tablet. Claiming to be ultra-portable, and with a battery life of up to 17 hours, the Portégé Z20t could be the ideal business companion both in and out of the office. The tablet option can be fitted with a protective cover although we have not seen this or been made aware of its price.
Because Toshiba designs and develops its platforms in-house from the BIOS up, this innovation with a detachable screen is a logical progression and the company was able to vastly improve on battery life through not one, but two battery packs. One in the tablet and one in the keyboard, together with connectivity access in both, this could well be the leap that puts the Portégé Z20t head and shoulders above the other players.
Toshiba claims that with just the tablet, the Z20t is said to last for up to exactly 9.1 hours and with the keyboard attached this leaps to a fantastic 17.5 hours of battery life.
Toshiba are not as yet offering review units to we can not verify this claim to run for 2 working days, so we'll put this bold claim to the test when we can get our hands on a unit for a full review.
